the house of the mind - released 8 June 2018 by Signum records

We are delighted to announce that the Choir’s latest CD, The House of the Mind, was released on 8 June 2018.

You can buy your copy online by clicking here or at Blackwells, Broad Street, Oxford.

Watch our short film below to see footage from the recording sessions and for interviews with director Owen Rees, producer Adrian Peacock and alto Henry Taylor.

Celebrating the works of choral music icon Herbert Howells this disc sets his works alongside pieces that they inspired and influenced – such as Nico Muhly’s Like as the Hart for choir, solo violin and percussion – as well as works that, in turn, influenced him. The disc features two world premiere recordings by David Bednall: settings of two Marian Antiphons Alma redemptoris mater and Ave regina caelorum that ‘complete’ the partly-lost set of works that Howells wrote for Westminster Cathedral.
